Project: Light Box - Micro House Concept
Light Box is the studio’s entry for the Micro Home 2020 competition, conceived as a serene retreat for a professional couple eager to embrace the rhythms of countryside life. Occupying just 25 m², the dwelling distils living down to its essentials, pairing spatial efficiency with a light, luminous presence.
The square-plan structure is framed in timber and wrapped in a translucent polycarbonate skin. This double-layer envelope, comprising a 4 cm exterior sheet and a 2 cm interior sheet, encloses a 12 cm ventilated cavity. Acting as a passive bioclimatic system, the assembly captures solar warmth while balancing heat and humidity throughout the year.
Inside, a compact central core contains the bathroom, around which the living, kitchen, workspace, and sleeping zones unfold. A continuous circulation loop along the perimeter not only encourages movement but also lends each area a sense of independence, all within the seamless flow of a single open volume.
